THOMASVILLE — A couple of burglars with an apparent baseball fetish stole items related to the sport from storage units.
In a Sunday daytime burglary and a similar burglary Tuesday night, two thieves entered storage units at 1418 E. Jackson St.
“At both times they went in they went into multiple storage units,” said Sgt. Scott Newberry, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division assistant commander.
Locks are missing from the six units entered.
Among the items taken were baseball cards, baseball bats and gloves and washers and dryers.
Detectives are viewing video surveillance from the site. Newberry said the two men entering the units were traveling in a vehicle that resembled a van in front with a U-Haul body on the rear.
Also on surveillance video, the men are visible when opening the gate to storage units.
“Somehow they got the security code to the gate,” Newberry said.
