OCHLOCKNEE — Authorities have arrested a suspect they say is responsible for shooting and killing her husband during a domestic dispute over the weekend.
Desiree Michelle Green was taken into custody Monday on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and cruelty to children in the first degree. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says Green, 34, was involved in an argument Sunday afternoon with her husband, Joseph Charles Green, at an address off Highway 111 near Ochlocknee. Investigators say at some point during the argument Desiree Green brandished a firearm and shot her husband “more than once.”
Joseph Green, 35, died from the incident. An autopsy was conducted Monday at a GBI crime lab, the results of which have not been shared with the public.
GBI says children were present at the residence but were later removed by a family member when the Grady County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene. A GBI press release states that Desiree Green was identified with help from investigators with the sheriff’s office.
Desiree Green was booked into the Grady County Jail on Monday afternoon.
The case is active and ongoing.
