Robinson has more than 23 years of education experience, said Dr. Lisa Williams, Thomas County School System superintendent.

“(Her) strong elementary curriculum background, coupled with her outstanding performance in leadership, make her the perfect candidate to lead Garrison-Pilcher Elementary,” Williams said. “She is fully committed to continuing our standard of excellence with the incredible faculty, staff, students, and parents of the Garrison-Pilcher school community.”

For the past 11 years, Robinson has been in leadership positions. She is moving to Garrison-Pilcher after serving for the past year as assistant principal at Cross Creek Elementary School in the county school system. She joined the Cross Creek faculty in 2018, after having served as assistant principal at Jones Wheat Elementary School in Bainbridge for five years. Robinson taught elementary school in the Grady and Decatur county school systems for 16 years.

With past leadership experience as the assistant principal at Cross Creek and 10 years of elementary leadership in Bainbridge, Robinson believes she is prepared to provide effective communication and a firm commitment to student-centered learning.

She is eager to return to the school she attended in her early years until her family moved to Cairo.

“I am so excited to be heading back as the principal and look forward to being a part of the great things that are happening there,” Robinson said. “As a leader, I look forward to working closely with teachers and parents using student data to create an effective school improvement plan focused on increased staff and student performance. Most importantly, I look forward to working to create a nurturing environment for all stakeholders.”

Robinson earned a master’s degree in instruction and technology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a bachelor of science in early elementary education from Valdosta State University. She holds Educational Leadership Certification from Albany State University.

Robinson firmly believes all children can learn.

“It is my goal as a leader to help staff members understand that if a child can’t learn the way we are teaching, we must teach them the way they can learn,” she said.

Sharonda Wilson, former longtime Garrison-Pilcher principal, was named recently as principal at Harper Elementary School in the Thomasville City Schools system.
