Our Reference Department is currently scheduling appointments for those in need of free assistance filing 2019 individual taxes. Appointment space is limited and will be scheduled for Tuesday mornings from Feb 11 to April 14. Household income cannot exceed $50K.
Jan 30| AARP Defensive Driving Course | 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically designed for drivers age 50 and older. Drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. And you will learn something new along the way. In fact, an evaluation of the course found that 97% of participants changed at least one driving habit as a result of what they learned. Course rates are $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members

Feb 3 | Spanish Level 1 | 6 p.m.
We get it, you don’t know anything more than “tacos” & “margarita”, or maybe you’ve taken a decade off. Either way, you are ready to change all that with Spanish Level 1. This class is perfect for you if you are completely new to the language and you want to get the basics down to start speaking conversationally. This course is completely free and open to all. Simply stop by or call to register. Class meets once a week for two months: every Monday at 6 p.m. from Feb 3-March 23. All course materials will be supplied by the Library at no cost.
Feb 4 | New Year, New You: Creating a Working Budget| 11.30 a.m.
Stop in for a financial literacy lunch and learn. Kellie Merck, community development manager at Envision Credit Union, will be sharing tips on creating a monthly budget that works for you. Stop by or call to register at no cost.
Feb 7 | Enlightening Bites | Noon
Bring your lunch to the library and enjoy a stimulating lecture on this hidden gem of Thomasville history. Joining us this month is Jack Hadley, founder of Jack Hadley’s Black History Museum. Jack will be shedding the light on the once famous Imperial Hotel, located on West Jackson Street. Learn the history of this once popular hotel, the solitary blacks-only establishment in Georgia listed in the Green Book Travellers Guide, that hosted famous entertainers like King Perry Band, B. B. King and Rosetta Thorpe. We highly encourage you to bring your lunch and enjoy. Light fare will be served.

Feb 11 | Book to Art Book Club | 3 p.m.
This library book club meets every second Tuesday at 3 to not only discuss a new novel each month, but create a unique piece of art inspired by the book. Copies available for check-out at the front desk, register to join.
Feb 11 | Mindful Meditation: Discussion & Practice | 6 p.m.
Learn to cultivate a calm and peaceful mindset through guided practice. Rich Curtis, professor of art at Thomas University, has been practicing mediation for over four years and will be leading the group through several guided mediations to help create a practice that works for you.
Tuesdays | Friends of the Library Book Sale | 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Join the Friends of the Library and support reading! Forms are available at our front desk and our library staff will be happy to answer your questions. Your participation helps the library with programming, books and other materials added to our library system.

- Wednesday and Friday, Feb 5 and 7 – Computer Basics 2. Piggybacking off our last month’s Basics class, we are focusing on creating, organizing and using files on your computer.

- Join us every Thursday at 10.30 a.m. for an hour of cool stories, awesome songs and super fun activities at our Toddlers & Tykes Story Hour. Intended for ages 2-4 years.
- Foster your child’s creativity at LEGO Club. Every Thursday at 4 p.m. Intended for ages 4-11 years.
- Bring your baby to the library and begin the journey to literacy. Every Friday at 10.30 a.m. is Wiggles & Giggles Story Hour. We sing songs, read stories and recite rhymes while your little one interacts with other babies.
- Every Friday at 4 p.m., we invite your child to join us for a group gaming session! We are playing group games on the Nintendo Switch to get your child moving and jumping.

- Every Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. Join us at the library for a game of Quiddler! Quiddler an incredibly fun card game that challenges players to create words out of an increasing hand of cards.

- Thurs, Feb 13 at 4.30 p.m. – Kids Craft Time. Kids will make their own Valentine gift bag to take home and collect their Valentines.

Learn about the art of wood turning, see a demonstration of the spinning wheel and loom, and try your hand at working either machine.
- Wed, Feb 12 at 4.30 p.m. – Wee Wednesday. Hear the story of the ‘Nerdy Birdy’ and make a heart-shaped treat for a feathered friend.
