THOMASVILLE- Saturday afternoon local faith-based organizations, along with the Thomasville Police Department hosted a Trunk or Treat as part of National Faith and Blue weekend at the Thomas County Public Library.

National Faith and Blue Weekend is based on the premise that strong communities are built through mutual respect and understanding. Law enforcement and faith institutions are both recognized as key pillars of the community and when they work together, neighborhoods can thrive.

According to Public Information Officer Crystal Parker, TPD participated in Faith and Blue Weekend last year online by hosting a community forum. However, this year they felt called to do something that was more engaging with the community and opted to host a Trunk or Treat.

“We were really pleased with the turnout, especially since this was our first year doing this,” Parker said. “Families I spoke with were very happy that we put this on.”

Parker acknowledged the event would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of Dawson Street Baptist Church, Rivers of Life Evangelistic Center, The Connection Church, Victory Fellowship Church, Thomas County Public Library, Goodwill Community Career Center, Salvation Army, Food Lion, Eastside Baptist Church, Worldwide Ministries of Christ Church, Boston Police Department, Georgia State Patrol Post 12, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office, Thomasville First United Methodist Church, Thomasville Fire Rescue, Christian Fellowship Church of God and The Gathering Church.

She additionally thanked all of the families who came out and interacted with officers, deputies and pastors and hopes they enjoyed themselves.
