Garrison Pilcher students place in DAR Junior Citizens contest

THOMASVILLE- Thomas County first and second graders at Garrison-Pilcher Elementary School created stamps, poster, and banner to win top honors in the Georgia, Southeastern United States, and United States Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Junior Citizens Contest themed: “The 200th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail: Moving Stars and Stripes Westward.”
Second grade state-level winners are: Mattison Haymons (1st place poster), Camden Wood (1st place stamp), and Piper Tillman (1st place poster and 2nd place stamp).
Second grade state-level winners in the banner category are: Wilder Howard, Parker Van Heiningen, Rebecca Jane Lackey, Piper Tillman, and Gracen Rose Warren.
Camden Wood’s stamp created with the theme “The 200th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail: Moving Stars and Stripes Westward” won 1st place at the local, state, regional, and at the national levels of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Junior Citizens Contest.
