Thomas County third graders at Cross Creek Elementary celebrated their mothers on “You’re my Lucky Charm Day.” Cross Creek art teacher Lindsey Ray hosted an art show that coordinated with the celebration. Each student had a piece of this year’s art displayed at the show. Cross Creek students keep a portfolio containing all of their artwork from the year in the art room. 

During February, Ray spent a class period updating their digital portfolios in a program called Artsonia that allows parents to see the children’s artwork as they make it. Then, each student chose their favorite piece they had made all year. After choosing their piece for the show, students learned how to mat and label their pieces. 

All 800 pieces of artwork were chosen, matted, and labeled by the students themselves. Ray’s project aligns with the Georgia standards for elementary fine arts.

“I am so proud of the students and their hard work this year,” said Ray.
