He will replace Dr. Shannon Norfleet, who is returning to middle Georgia. Norfleet came to THS from Macon’s Howard High School.

“We are excited to have Brian Beaty as the new principal of Thomasville High School,” said city schools Superintendent Ben Wiggins. “Mr. Beaty is a former high school teacher and worked at both THS and the Scholars Academy. Mr. Beaty has a strong academic background in curriculum and instruction. Mr. Beaty will bring stability to this crucial position and we are excited to see his vision for THS.”

Beaty also serves as the city school system’s K-5 curriculum coordinator.

The city school board also has named Sharonda Wilson as the new principal for Harper Elementary School, replacing Melvin Hugans. Wilson has been principal at Thomas County Schools’ Garrison-Pilcher Elementary.

“Sharonda Wilson has an excellent reputation as a principal and brings a wealth of experience with her to Harper Elementary School,” Wiggins said. “She is a graduate of THS and attended Harper Elementary. We look forward to the leadership, drive and passion she will bring to the Harper Elementary School community.”

Also, the board has appointed Dr. Jim Cable to take the place of David Cone on the school board. Cone has resigned from his position.

No replacement for Beaty at Scott Elementary has been named. The city school system is taking applications for the position.
