Brookwood set for final home game

THOMASVILLE – The Brookwood Warriors will take to the gridiron on home turf for the final time on Friday night as they host Tiftarea Academy.

“I feel like we’re getting better, which is critical,” said Warriors head coach Shane Boggs. “We need to finish the week strong and need to keep building on the things that really we’ve started to do well in the last one.”

While this very young Brookwood squad has yet to win a game this season and looks likely to go 0-10 this season, they have made continuous improvements throughout. For example, in their last game against Deerfield-Windsor, the Warriors’ passing game really opened up. They were able to establish the run game and run effective play action, scoring two touchdowns in the air.

“Last game was so close to the kind of offense we want to play in that we were able to do things you have to do to move the chains and create momentum,” Boggs said.

Friday night is also Senior Night for the Warriors as they honor a small but important senior class. Pearson Taylor, Isaiah Hill, JT Reed, and Henry Frye will all be recognized before Friday night’s contest against Tiftarea.

“They kind of all bring different things to the table,” Boggs said about his four seniors. “Three of the four of them have been in our program at least since ninth grade, a couple of them much longer than that.”

Boggs spent some time reminiscing about his time with each of them, bringing up Hill’s 12-tackle game as a freshman and Fry’s toughness as he played through an injury this year.

Brookwood will take their home field one last time this season on Friday night as they take on Tiftarea with the game slated for 7:30 p.m.
