THOMASVILLE — An elderly Thomasville man is being counseled for trauma he experienced as a result of being attacked and robbed three times within six weeks.
The 78-year-old victim, who lives alone, was attacked and robbed on Oct. 18, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at his home in the 700 block of Marshall Street, according to police reports.
“During the October assault, his assailants stole $300 in cash and his wallet from him,” Capt. Maurice Holmes, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander, said.
The victim later told police he also was attacked by the same individuals in late November and early December. Each time, cash and other objects were forcibly taken from the man, Holmes said.
“Leads were few,” he added.
On Wednesday, police received information that led to the arrests of Shanequa Richardson, 24, 601 E. Monroe St., and Malcolm Bryant, 25, 832 N. Young St. The suspects are charged with robbery and elder abuse.
Said Holmes, “They did not know this guy. His house is secluded on Marshall Street. They decided to take advantage of him.”
In addition to the man’s trauma being addressed, he will receive help with other needs, the commander said.
