The missing mail was discovered when the office opened at 8 a.m. on Nov. 14.

So far, only one report has been made involving a check made out to Golden Environmental being altered and cashed.

The check was not cashed locally, according to the Tifton Police Department.

One customer said they discovered their check had been stolen when they received a bill from the company showing a missed payment for November.

A representative from Golden Environmental said the only thing they could say was that there was a report made about the theft to law enforcement. Golden Environmental isn’t the only business experiencing recent robberies

The Flower Gallery on Main Street was broken into sometime between 7 p.m. Nov. 26 and 8:45 a.m. Nov. 28 by forcing open the back door. An employee notified the Tifton Police Department that the door had been forced open.

In addition to the cash register being emptied of $75, a bank bag containing $1,000 worth of payroll checks and personal checks from customers that had been signed was stolen, according to the police report.

The bank was contacted and asked not to cash any of the checks that had been brought in, and was asked to inform law enforcement should anyone attempt to negotiate the stolen checks.
