The restaurant concept he and his wife, Lauren, came up with in May 2008 has quickly become a local institution. Jonah’s is nearing completion on an expansion of its downtown location.

Of the honor, Brown said: “The nomination and designation of Jonah’s as Best Small Town Restaurant is amazing to me. What an unexpected, but wonderful blessing. May Jesus continue to be lifted up and glorified through this exposure!”

Said Lauren A. Basford, Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce executive director, “I join the entire staff of the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce in saluting Jonah’s Fish & Grits for being recognized for its excellence. We are very fortunate to have such an amazing eatery in our city, and the word is rapidly spreading throughout the region. Thank you, (Mr.) Brown — and thank you, Jonah’s.”

“Congratulations to (Mr.) Brown and the entire staff of Jonah’s for being nominated and featured as Best Small Town Restaurant by Rural Leader Magazine. Best wishes!” said Kuanita E. Murphy, Rural Leader Magazine publisher and editor-in-chief.
