A Boston junkyard is a breeding ground for rats, roaches and mosquitoes, a Thomasville woman told Thomas County commissioners.
Helen Huddleston, whose husband owns property adjacent to the old U.S. 84 East site, told commissioners junkyard inventory increases constantly.
Commissioners instructed staff to address the situation.
Richard Reynolds, a Boston City Council member, told board members he is glad the commission will help address the site.
“The City of Boston sees it as an eyesore, as well,” Reynolds said.
Boston will help, if needed, he added.
“We’ve had complaints on that place for years,” said Boston Mayor Danny Groover.
The majority of the site is in incorporated Thomas County, Groover sad. A portion infringes on city property.
The mayor said the matter has been turned over to the Boston City Council property committee.
Committee members will determine what, if anything, Boston can do about the site, Groover explained.
