Graveside services for Mary Frances Mitchell, 79, of Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., March 13, 2014, at Peaceful Rest Cemetery. The Rev. Leon Jones officiating and the Rev. James Herbert, pastor. Pallbearers are her nephews. Mrs. Mitchell died March 9, at her residence. Born June 23, 1934, in Grady County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Evalena Gilmore Delaney. On Aug. 13, 1955, in Thomas County, Ga., she married Willie J. Mitchell Sr. She is a 1953 graduate of Liberty High School, a member of Ochlocknee Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Southwestern State Hospital. She was also a member of Tabitha Chapter No. 31 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband, Willie J. Mitchell Sr. of Thomasville; a son, Verner (Veronica) Mitchell of Cordova, Tenn.; daughter, Perida Mitchell of Thomasville; son, Willie Mitchell Jr. of Thomasville; daughter, Suzzanne Freeman of Thomasville; sisters, Clara Jones, Rhetta (Hayward) Trutlin all of Thomasville; brother, Frank (Eunice) Delaney Jr. of Thomasville; sisters-in-law, Annette Diggs McMillan of Thomasville, April Diggs of Somerset, N.J.; brother-in-law, C.J. (Annie Grace) Mitchell of Waverly, Fla.; granddaughters, Frances (Qaran) Glenn of McDonough, Ga., Courtney Mitchell of Cordova, Brittany Freeman of Thomasville; grandsons, Jamison Mitchell of Washington, D.C., Jared Mitchell of Cordova, Tenn., Jeremiah Freeman of Wichita Falls, Texas, Gabriel Freeman of Thomasville; four great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
