THOMASVILLE – On Thursday, November 7, at The Ranges at Oakfield, the Kiwanis Club of Thomasville hosted their second annual Kiwanis Clays fundraising event to raise money for local youth.
“This is our second year and it’s been a tremendous success so far,” said Terry Vaughan, a member of the Kiwanis Club and chair of the fundraising committee. “We think it’s something we can build upon to make this an annual event for a long time.”
Folks were able to come out and shoot clays at The Ranges at Oakfield to help raise money, most of which will go toward college scholarships according to Vaughan.
“Serving the kids is the slogan we have for this event. All of the money raised in terms of net proceeds will be used for children and youth projects to include scholarships,” Vaughan said. “We have other youth projects in the community, we sponsor the youth art and music showcase. We have terrific kids. A lot of the money that is raised today will go toward scholarships for kids who can use it towards college expenses.”
Serving the youth of the community has always been a goal of the Kiwanis Club. The Kiwanis Club of Thomasville is approaching a century of service and was first chartered in 1926. Serving the youth has always been at the forefront of their mission.
“It’s always been about children and youth projects,” Vaughan said.
