Services for Robert L. Dixon, Sr., 90, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2012, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Rod Brinkley will officiate, and interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Dixon passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA. Active pallbearers will be Chad Dixon, Chris Miller, Josh Heald, Paul Page, Jr., Scotty Edwards, Mark Dorris and Chuck Irvin. Mr. Dixon was born on February 6, 1922, in Reno, GA, to the late Calvin John and Annie  Harrison Dixon.  He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.  He was a retired Brick Mason. Survivors include:  son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. “Buck” Dixon, Jr. and Lanay of Cairo, GA;  daughters and sons-in-law, Lana Dixon and Walter Clark of Tallahassee, FL, Lanell and Tommy VanLandingham of Statesboro, GA, Janet Faye Dixon of Cairo, GA;  grandchildren, DeeAnna Owens, Sherri Tucker, Chad Dixon, Stacie Dixon, Chip Hancock, J. J. VanLandingham, Amy Simmons;  nine great-grandchildren;  brothers and sisters-in-law, Carroll and Adelia Dixon of Griffin, GA, Max and Jeannie Dixon of Cairo, GA;  sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Mack Gainey of Cairo, GA, Myrtle Powers of Jacksonville, FL;  and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by:  parents, Calvin John and Annie Harrison Dixon;  daughter, Judith Lynn Dixon;  brothers, Forcie W. Dixon, Calvin Murray Dixon, Hugh Rudolph Dixon;  sister, Marguerite Dixon Hardin;  granddaughter, Misty Michelle Dixon;  great-grandson, Eric Owens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
