Services for  Traica Kerensky Thomas are at 10 a.m., Feb. 4, 2011, Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Rd., Lake Worth, Fla. A memorial service will also be held in Thomasville, Ga., at a future date. Mrs. Thomas died January 27, in Thomasville. She was 98 years old. Born Feb. 26, 1912 in Macedonia to parents Nicholes and Agnes (Stoyanoff) Vangeloff, she immigrated to the United States in 1923 at the age of 11 arriving at Ellis Island, NYC. Mrs. Thomas was the loving wife of the late Michael Kerensky and Eli Thomas, sister of the late August Vangeloff, precious mother of Dr. Vasil Kerensky and Melka (Kerensky) Hulen, husband James, dearest grandmother of Michael Kerensky, Dr. Richard Kerensky, John Kerensky, Victoria (Kerensky) Colangelo, and Holly (Hulen) Sutton, great grandmother of ten, and great great grandmother of one. She worked as the assistant to the chairman of Pathology at St. Joes Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. After the death of Michael Kerensky she married Eli Thomas and relocated to Florida. She felt lucky to spend winters in Palm Beach, FL and summers in Highlands, NC. She had many friends in both places. She moved to Thomasville, GA in 2006 to be near family. She was interested in education, history, and politics. She always voted, including the 2010 mid-term elections. She was an expert bridge player and active in community service. She was Greek Orthodox. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123, or the Traica Vangeloff Thomas Scholarship Fund, College of Education, Florida Atlantic University.
