Services for James Luther Davis Jr. “Jimbo”, of Thomasville, are at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at Camilla United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert Garrison and the Rev. Terry Solano will officiate and interment is in Oakview Cemetery. Mr. Davis died Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. Born Aug. 5, 1941, Mr. Davis was the son of the late James Luther Davis Sr. and Carolyn Davis. Mr. Davis was a native of Mitchell County, where he graduated from Camilla High School and later graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in business administration. He was also a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Mr. Davis returned to Camilla and worked with the local planning commission and later with a farm chemical company. He was a member of the Camilla United Methodist Church and the Camilla Rotary Club. In 1970, Mr. Davis moved to Albany and continued his career in the agricultural chemical supply business. He was a member of Porterfield United Methodist Church and Doublegate Country Club. He later moved to Thomasville, where he was able to continue to be active in his two life-long hobbies: playing tennis and training and riding quarter horses. Survivors include his two daughters, Barry Lockerbie and husband, Brad, of Greenville, N.C., Mary Claire Raines and husband, John, of Tifton; a sister, Claire Graham of Ft. Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Jack Raines, Frances Raines, Sam Knell; and two nieces, a nephew and many cousins. Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, one hour before services, in the church parlor.
