Melhana Plantation property sells for $3.57 million

THOMASVILLE — Last week at the Thomas County Courthouse, property on Melhana Plantation was sold for $3.57 million. The property now belongs to Melhana Beach Properties, LLC, a company out of Tallahassee, Fla., according to a deed now on record at the courthouse.

“Melhana Beach Properties, LLC … as attorney in fact for Charlie E. Lewis and Shirley H. Lewis, did expose for sale at public outcry to the highest bidder for cash before the courthouse door in Thomas County, Georgia, the lands hereinafter described,” the deed states.

“Melhana Beach Properties, LLC was the highest and best bidder for the sum of $3,575,546, and said property was then and there knocked off to the said Melhana Beach Properties, LLC.”

Signatures on the deed are those of Charlie E. Lewis, Shirley H. Lewis and James R. Steiner, member and manager of Melhana Beach Properties, LLC. None of them could be reached for comment Monday.

The deed was filed Wednesday at the courthouse. The deed states the sale was made after advertising the time, place and terms in the Times-Enterprise. The deed describes the land sold as lots 236, 237, 244 and 245, all of which lie within the boundaries of Melhana Plantation.
