THOMASVILLE — Bond has been set at $250,000 for a 31-year-old pharmacist accused in a Boston drug case.

The suspect, James Kevin Murphy, 936 Gordon Ave., Thomasville, remained in the Thomas County Jail midafternoon Friday.

Murphy, who was arrested in early November, is charged with trafficking hydrocodone, a narcotic pain killer.

Bond was set Wednesday by Superior Court Judge Frank Horkan during a hearing in judges chambers.

Murphy was represented at the hearing by Valdosta lawyer Converse Bright.

Court records show the following bond conditions:

• Surrender passport

• Wear monitoring system

• Cannot leave Thomas County without court’s permission

• Appear for court proceedings

• Do not violate laws

• Do not contact witnesses or co-defendants in the case

• Waive extradition from another location

• Will not contest efforts to be returned to Georgia

The monitoring system must be programmed before Murphy can leave jail. The monitor — at the suspect’s expense — will be programmed to alert authorities if Murphy leaves Thomas County.

Murphy was a pharmacist at Boston Pharmacy in the Thomas County town of Boston, 12 miles east of Thomasville.

Arnolfo Capistran, 23, and Myrtie Veanne Luna, 35, both of 453 Oak Ridge Ave., Boston, also are charged with trafficking hydrocodone in the case. Capistran and Luna were denied bond and remain in jail.

State and federal investigative agencies are involved in the case, which is being reviewed by the U.S. attorney’s office at Macon.
