CAIRO- On April 5, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a Grady County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 26-year-old George Rowe from Albany. However, the vehicle failed to stop and began driving erratically and dangerously. During the pursuit, Rowe deliberately attempted to strike another Deputy Sheriff with his car, putting both law enforcement officers and the public at significant risk.
In response to this imminent threat to public safety, the pursuing Deputy executed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT maneuver), successfully disabling the suspect vehicle and bringing this chase to an end.
Upon arresting Rowe and his passenger, 21-year-old Jaylon Davis of Cairo, deputies discovered stolen firearms inside the vehicle.
Rowe, who is known to have gang affiliations, faces multiple charges, including, felony fleeing and eluding; felony aggravated assault on a Law Enforcement Officer; theft by receiving stolen property; possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime; and numerous traffic violations.
Davis has been charged with theft by receiving stolen property; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Grady County Sheriff, Martin E. Prince, commended the deputies for their professionalism and the effective application of their training in safely apprehending these dangerous individuals. Prince also extended his gratitude to the Georgia State Patrol, Whigham Police Department, and Cairo Police Department for their invaluable assistance during the pursuit.
“The actions of this suspect and his passenger were reckless, dangerous, and put the lives of our officers and the community at risk,” said Prince. “Fleeing from law enforcement is not only irresponsible, it is a serious crime with severe consequences. Let this be a reminder that in Grady County, you will be caught, and you will be held accountable.”
The Grady County Sheriff’s Office continues to prioritize the safety of its residents and law enforcement personnel, vowing to pursue justice for all criminal activities in the area.
