LEESBURG – The Cairo Syrupmakers dropped their third straight game on the diamond Friday night. Cairo’s offense sputtered, while the defense committed three errors, leading to a 10-0 loss to the Lee County Trojans.

The game was scoreless through the first three and a half innings before Lee County scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Trojans capitalized on a couple of Syrupmakers defensive miscues. Lee County’s Graysen Spears blew the game open with a bases-loaded double that provided the Trojans a 6-0 lead. Lee County added a single run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to run-rule the Syrupmakers.

Cairo managed just one hit over six innings, a lone single by Jaxon Cox in the top of the fifth inning. The Syrupmakers struggled to put the ball in play against Lee County starter Durrah Butler. Cairo struck out nine times.
