THOMASVILLE- The 11th Annual Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Festival was a huge success, bringing together history, community, and a powerful show of support for the Jack Hadley Black History Museum. More than 150 Buffalo Soldiers motorcycle riders traveled from across the country—including as far as Texas—to honor the legacy of the legendary Black cavalry regiments and to support the museum’s mission.
The highlight of the event came with a generous $9,000 donation from the Southeast Frontier Buffalo Soldiers, and $1,000 from the National Association, reinforcing their commitment to preserving African American history. The festival featured a day full of engaging activities. Guests were entertained by live music from the G&S Experience, food vendors, and free art lessons provided by Friends and Stars INC., where kids and adults were able to create wonderful works of art. The Thomasville Police department provided hot dogs for guests, and the museum gave out free art supplies and activity books for the children that attended.
“We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation and for the overwhelming support from the Buffalo Soldiers riders and our wonderful community,” said Daniel J. Pittman Executive Director of the Jack Hadley Black History Museum. “Seeing so many riders travel from all over, including Texas, to be here in Thomasville was truly inspiring. Their dedication to honoring history and supporting our museum means so much to the organization.”
The annual festival continues to grow, drawing in visitors and supporters who share a passion for history and community. With the Southeast Frontier Buffalo Soldiers’ donation, the museum will further its mission of educating and preserving African American history for generations to come.
