THOMASVILLE – Thomas County Central’s golf teams scored a pair of victories in their season-opening matchup with Bainbridge on Wednesday.
The boys emerged victorious with a 168-170 victory over the Bearcats, while the girls edged the Lady Bearcats 147-148.
Junior Wyatt Elkins paced Central with a nine-hole score of 39. Freshman Mae Harrison’s score of 46 paced the Lady Jackets.
“It’s good to start the season with a couple of wins and two really close wins at that,” Central golf coach Kevin Esch said. “The kids can see how close it is now that we use the GHSA golf app for scoring, so they did a good job managing their nerves throughout a tight match. It was a super windy day at Bainbridge Country Club, but the course was in great shape, so the kids enjoyed their round.”
Central will return to the links on Thursday, Feb. 20 to play crosstown rival Thomasville at Country Oaks Golf Course.
