Archbold reports increase in COVID-19 patients

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there are 46 COVID-19 positive patients at its facilities.

There have been 283 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week across the Archbold system. The system has had 845 new negative results. Thirty-nine people were admitted to Archbold facilities in the last week for COVID-19.

The system recorded five deaths from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there are 38 COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital. There were two at Brooks County Hospital, four at Grady General Hospital and two at Mitchell County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are 16 COVID-19 positive patients at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home and none at Mitchell Convalescent Center and one at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home.

Archbold will host a vaccine clinic for those age 5 and older March 2 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in Williams Auditorium at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

Archbold officials are asking the public not to go to its emergency departments or its Urgent Care Center for COVID-19 testing but instead to check its website (archbold.org) for a list of area testing sites.

As of Tuesday, more than 22,250 Thomas County residents, 50% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 55,060 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state Department of Public Health. In all, 40% of Thomas County residents have received full vaccination and an additional dose. 

Grady County has had more than 26,470 vaccines administered, with more than 10,910 people, 44% of the population, being fully vaccinated. According to the state DPH, 36% of Grady County residents are fully vaccinated and have received an additional dose. 

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 8,671 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 170 deaths. There also have been 582 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 436 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 3,586 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 76 deaths and 258 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 285 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.88 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 28,191 deaths and more than 104,700 hospitalizations.

More than 16.1 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 12.7% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 103,063 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 14.17 million vaccinations, and 55% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.68 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
