Vaccination totals climb slowly

As of Monday, more than 22,240 Thomas County residents, 50% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 55,030 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state Department of Public Health. In all, 40% of Thomas County residents have received full vaccination and an additional dose. 

Grady County has had more than 26,450 vaccines administered, with more than 10,900 people, 44% of the population, being fully vaccinated. According to the state DPH, 36% of Grady County residents are fully vaccinated and have received an additional dose. 

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 8,512 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 168 deaths. There also have been 576 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 436 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 3,486 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 73 deaths and 257 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 210 new cases in the last two weeks.

Statewide, there have been more than 1.84 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 27,595 deaths and more than 103,000 hospitalizations.

More than 16 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 12.7% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 76,729 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 14.16 million vaccinations, and 55% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.68 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
