Thomasville Entertainment Foundation’s 84th performance series continues Tuesday, February 15, with the eight lush voices of the British vocal ensemble VOCES8.
Set for 7:30 p.m. at the Thomasville Center for the Arts, the group’s a cappella performance will focus on “exquisite music of the Renaissance,” said TEF Executive and Artistic Director Rick Ivey.

“This planned program focuses on European music created in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, but also includes works from the 12th century,” Ivey said. “The Center’s intimate auditorium has the ideal acoustics for a nuanced vocal program of this scope and style.”
VOCES8 is highly sought after on their periodic global tours, and TEF Vice President for Box Office Ginny LeGette said demand for tickets has been very strong, with single ticket purchasers traveling to Thomasville from as far away as Aiken, South Carolina, and Broward County, Florida. Following the Thomasville performance, the group travels on to Florida, Kansas, New Mexico and California, among others stops, before kicking off a European tour that includes Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the UK.
Critics write of VOCES8’s impeccable vocal quality, tone, balance and versatility as they perform pieces from a repertoire of works spanning more than 600 years of vocal expression.
The concert is TEF’s first since October, following the cancellation of a December appearance by the UK gospel ensemble, The Kingdom Choir.
TEF prioritizes the health and safety of its patrons, performers, volunteers and support staff, sanitizing all lobby, auditorium, restroom, stage and backstage areas before each event. Disposable masks and no-touch hand sanitizing stations are made available. In line with their own COVID protocols, VOCES8 has requested that all audience members wear masks during the concert, and the artists will not be available for a post-concert meet-and-greet or to sign CDs following the performance.
“These exceptional performing artists are traveling to the United States to perform for us at significant personal risk, so we are sharing their request and strongly encouraging our patrons to consider protective facial coverings,” Ivey said.

LeGette said a few tickets remain available for the performance, at $38 for adults and $15 for students. Additionally, TEF makes available to local students a limited number of free Tickets for Teens, a program funded in part by a grant from the Thomasville Antiques Show Foundation and an anonymous donor to TEF’s Education Fund.
Interested concertgoers can contact the TEF office at (229) 226-7404 for more information or ticket availability, and a limited number of seats may be available at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m. on concert night.
