Not everything was always rosy in the Rose City. In honor of the upcoming spooky season, the Thomasville History Center invites all who are curious to join them on special editions of our Tiptoe Through the Tombstones Tours: Murder and Mayhem! Tours of the City, Flipper, and Laurel Hill Cemeteries will be held on the first Saturday of each month from September through November.
Tour guides will lead you through the hallowed grounds while telling tales of the citizens of Thomas County.
Some lived wild and dangerous lives; others met tragic ends. Among them, you will meet prominent businessmen, actresses on the stage, and unassuming neighbors who found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Hear their stories come to life and get a better picture of the characters who once inhabited our town.
Tours take place twice a day on the first Saturday of each month from September through November. Guests can register for a morning tour at the City Cemetery on the 700 block of North Broad Street in Thomasville, or an afternoon tour in Laurel Hill Cemetery on the 600 Block of East Jackson Street (U.S. Hwy. 319 North) in Thomasville.
Please note: transportation to and from the cemeteries is the responsibility of the attendees.
For safety reasons we ask that guests please wear closed-toed shoes as we will be walking through a few bumpy areas along our tour.
Registration for the tours is now open. Advanced registration is required, and the link will close 24 hours before the scheduled start of the tour.
If you miss the online registration window, give us a call at 229-226-7664 to inquire about the spaces remaining.
Tickets are $15 per adult and $10 for students 17 and under. Children under the age of 6 are free.
The themes and biographical information discussed on the tour may not be appropriate for young adventurers — registration for children under 12 is at the discretion of their adult(s).

The Thomasville History Center was formed in 1952 and opened the museum within the Flowers-Roberts House in 1972. Since then, the History Center’s collections have grown to include more than 500,000 artifacts and archival materials and eight historic structures. The History Center, in partnership with the state of Georgia, also operates the historic Lapham-Patterson House. Our board, staff, and growing membership invite you to join us in enriching the community through the exploration and discovery of its history, people, and stories.
