Each year, millions of Americans come together to remember the fallen, honor those that serve and their families, and teach the next generation about the value of freedom. In 2021, more than 2.4 million veterans’ wreaths were placed by volunteers on headstones at 3,137 participating locations around the country in honor of the service and sacrifices made for our freedoms, with each name said out loud. Wreaths Across America volunteers work year-round to ensure military laid to rest are remembered, their families and living veterans are honored, and the next generation is taught about the value of freedom.  The Thomasville Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is proud to support Wreaths Across America participating location Tallahassee National Cemetery in Tallahassee, Fla. as part of the national organization’s Group Sponsorship Program. “This is the second year that the Thomasville Chapter DAR will participate in the national program whose mission is to Remember the fallen, Honor those who served, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom,” said Chapter Regent Charlotte Brown.

Wreaths Across America is also a fundraising program for the Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR. Wreath sponsorships are $15.00 each with $5.00 going to the Thomasville DAR to use for chapter programs for veterans, patriotism and the community. Those interested in sponsoring a wreath are invited to visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/GA0368P to learn more. The chapter will be selling sponsorships until November 25th.

“We are forever grateful to all the volunteers and groups who dedicate their time and effort nationwide to fulfilling this yearlong mission,” said Karen Worcester, executive director, Wreaths Across America. “These individuals and their communities know the value of remembering the fallen, honoring those who currently serve and teaching the next generation about the sacrifices made for our freedom every day, and with their continued support, Wreaths Across America continues to grow.”

The goal for the Thomasville Chapter DAR is to support efforts that help unify the community and celebrate their freedom by thanking the 2,100 veterans laid to rest at Tallahassee National Cemetery with the placement of a live, balsam veteran’s wreath this December. National Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, December 17, 2022, with the theme “Find a way to serve.” “The Thomasville Chapter DAR will be helping Tallahassee National Cemetery on December 17 at 12:00 p.m. to remember and honor our veterans by laying remembrance wreaths on the graves of the our fallen heroes.  Please help us honor and remember as many fallen heroes as possible by sponsoring remembrance wreaths,” said Chapter Regent Charlotte Brown. “Thank you for your support.”
