Jackie Robinson Boys and Girls Club members were rewarded for their hard work with their academics during the afterschool program at the club. The last several weeks, club members have enjoyed entertaining shows that are incentives for the club’s academic GEER (Governor’s Emergency Education Relief) Program , says JRBGC Director-Stephen Francis. The GEER program is one of many programs that the club has to offer children after school.

For a solid year now, this particular academic program has been a success in assisting club members with their homework and maintaining good grades. The Club has chosen outstanding Grady County teachers Amy Hagan & Amanda Gainous along with several assisting tutors and staff to facilitate this program.

According to Francis, the women are doing an outstanding job.

“We were blessed with being able to bring the shows to the club and it has been a great experience for our children,” Francis said. “We appreciate all the club members for working so hard each day and their families for allowing us the opportunity to serve them.”

Some of the activities club members got to participate in included taking part in Animal Tales Southesast, visiting the Gulf Specimen Marine Aquarium, enjoying a cookout, compliments of Tony Boles and friends and watching a Ken Scott Comedy Magic Show.

Most recently, the club attended the Crescent Circus at the Cairo High School Auditorium.
