Archbold system COVID-19 patient numbers swell to 29

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there are 29 COVID-19 positive patients at its facilities.

There have been 850 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week across the Archbold system. The system has had 1,038 new negative results. Thirty-eight people were admitted to Archbold facilities in the last week for COVID-19.

The system recorded four deaths from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there 25 four COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital. There were three at Mitchell County Hospital, one at Grady General Hospital and none at Brooks County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are two COVID-19 positive patients at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home and none at Mitchell Convalescent Center and at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home.

Archbold wil host a vaccine clinic for those age 5 and older February 2 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in Williams Auditorium at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

Archbold officials are asking the public not to go to its emergency departments or its Urgent Care Center for COVID-19 testing but instead to check its website (archbold.org) for a list of area testing sites.

As of Tuesday, more than 21,970 Thomas County residents, 49% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 54,070 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state Department of Public Health. In all, 38% of Thomas County residents have received full vaccination and an additional dose. 

Grady County has had more than 25,950 vaccines administered, with more than 10,760 people, 43% of the population, being fully vaccinated. According to the state DPH, 34% of Grady County residents are fully vaccinated and have received an additional dose. 

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 7,541 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 165 deaths. There also have been 561 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 1,153 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 3,084 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 70 deaths and 250 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 503 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.67 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 26,833 deaths and more than 99,800 hospitalizations.

More than 15.1 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 11.9% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 204,145 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 13.85 million vaccinations, and 54% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.59 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
