Thomas County Central High School Bands program students played their way to 58 seats — and 13 first chairs — on a prestigious group that spotlights the best youth musicians in the state: the Georgia Music Educators Association District 2 Honor Band. Auditions occurred Saturday, Dec. 11, the first in-person tryouts since 2019.

“I’m very proud of all our students who auditioned for District Honor Band this year,” director Joe Regina said. “They all learned a lot in the process and became better musicians. To return to in-person auditions for the first time since 2019 and have our students earn 58 spots is quite an accomplishment, especially since 13 of our students earned first chair spots in the ensembles. Thomas County Central had more than twice as many students earn spots in honor band than any other school who auditioned, and will comprise over 30 percent of the concert and symphonic bands this year.”

GMEA District Two Honor Band splits into two separate bodies: concert band for freshmen and sophomore players and the symphonic band for juniors and seniors. Below are the TCCHS students named to DHB for 2021:
