COVID-19 vaccine rates, case totals slow down

As of Monday, more than 22,720 Thomas County residents, 51% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 57,130 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state Department of Public Health. In all, 43% of Thomas County residents have received full vaccination and an additional dose. 

Grady County has had more than 27,400 vaccines administered, with more than 11,150 people, 45% of the population, being fully vaccinated. According to the state DPH, 38% of Grady County residents are fully vaccinated and have received an additional dose.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 8,856 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 180 deaths. There also have been 627 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded nine new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 3,691 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 83 deaths and 273 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county added one new case in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.94 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 31,486 deaths and more than 111,670 hospitalizations.

More than 17.74 million tests for COVID-19 have been conducted in the state, with a rate of 12.2% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 5,927 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 14.81 million vaccinations, and 56% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.83 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
