Dr. Scott-King participates in panel with US Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services

THOMASVILLE — Dr. Geneva Scott-King, DNP, MSN, ARNP, FNP-C was selected to serve on a Roundtable panel with United States Asst. Secretary of Health and Human Services Cheryl Campbell under President Biden’s current Administration.
She was selected because of her community involvement, healthcare services to vulnerable populations and health education to students about vulnerable populations. Several other top healthcare officials in the City of Tallahassee and the region were also a part of the round table discussion that also covered vulnerable populations, healthcare issues, workforce development and training.
A native of Thomasville, Scott-King began her professional medical career with Archbold Medical Center in the summer of 1995 after graduating with honors from Thomasville High School. She was awarded the medical Center’s 1st Minority Promotion of Excellence Award/Scholarship.
Scott-King became cross-trained within most of the hospital units one year after graduating as a Registered Nurse. Scott-King represented the Archbold Medical Center in the region through public relations, political activism, and media.
Scott-King earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Valdosta State University, Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Albany State University and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at Florida State University, where she chairs the Student Affairs Committee, serves on the Specialized Faculty promotion Committee, Diversity Committee and Minority Student Affairs Committee. She is a practicing Nurse Practitioner for the past 20 years at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
She is a member of many professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, where she is a test item writer for the AANP certification exam, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Lambda Xi Omega Chapter, where has she served as Chapter President and is current Community Committee Co-Chair, and Leadership Committee Chair. She is also member of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Organization.
Her research interests are community cardiometabolic risk assessment and she was awarded a seed grant in 2021-22 from Florida State for her research design/study titled An Examination of the mHealth Mobile Phone App on COVID-19 knowledge and vaccine hesitancy among residents of a Federally Qualified Housing Community.
She is an entrepreneur and children’s/adult author. {She has mentored or served as a clinical preceptor for high school, graduate and undergraduate students from several colleges and universities.
