THOMASVILLE- Thomasville Police Department arrested James Hudson on Sunday, May 14, after he attempted to solicit sexual favors from minors.

According to reports, TPD Officer Laura Berry was dispatched to the 1100 block of N. Stevens St. at 11:20 a.m. in reference to a white van cruising through the area attempting to solicit sexual favors from minors.

Upon arrival, Berry observed a white 1997 Ford Econoline van slowly driving through N. Stevens St. and Lewis Ln.

Berry reported that she positioned herself behind the van and witnessed the driver, later identified as Hudson, slowly rolling past a pedestrian. Berry was unable to see if the pedestrian and Hudson spoke directly, but they appeared to be speaking.

Due to the complaints of Hudson soliciting sexual favors, Berry activated her blue lights. However, Hudson immediately accelerated, running the stop sign between N. Stevens St. and W. Jerger.

Berry stated she attempted to catch Hudson, but he took a sharp right turn onto W. Merrill, striking the side of a vehicle and trailer.

“I observed the side mirror of a vehicle fly up into the air,” Berry said.

Hudson then proceeded to cut a sharp right turn on Madison Ally Way, jumping the curb with is front right tire.

Hudson then entered W. Walcott, where he ran another stop sign, before turning right toward N. Madison St., running another stop sign and turning left.

Berry continued to follow Hudson, until he came to a final rest at 701 N. Madison St.

Cpl. Shaquille Thomas arrived at the scene to assist Berry. As Thomas pulled in, Hudson exited his vehicle and stood at the driver’s door, appearing as if he was about to run.

Thomas pointed his taser at Hudson, ordering him to put his hands behind his back.

Hudson was then arrested without further incident and transported to the Thomas County Jail, where he was charged with failure to stop at a stop/yield sign, failure to maintain lane, failure to stop at an accident with damage, fleeing/attempting to elude, no insurance, knowingly driving a motor vehicle with suspended registration and driving while unlicensed.
