Bulldogs pitch a no-hitter during doubleheader over Carver

THOMASVILLE –The Thomasville Bulldogs captured two region wins in their doubleheader over the Carver Tigers on Friday night.

The Bulldogs won the first game 10-0, as Ryan Renfroe threw a no-hitter to lead Thomasville to victory. The righty went five innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out 11.

THS got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs secured a victory in the third inning, when they tallied six runs.

Carver’s pitcher first walked Carson Fryman, before walking Renfoe as well. James Douglas then singled on a bunt, loading the bases.

Jadon Lirette was up to bat, when a passed ball by Carver allowed Fryman to score and take the lead to 5-0.

Jasper Davis was walked, loading up the bases once again.

Tyler Lee then grounded into a fielder’s choice, allowing for Renfroe’s courtesy runner Parker Beckham to score.

Carver’s pitcher was unable to put together a plan, walking Brandon Allen and reloading the bases for another run.

Anderson Everett singled, scoring Davis’ courtesy runner, James Douglas. As Carver attempted to make a play, Lee was able to score as well, taking the score to 8-0.

Gus Novak closed out the game, singling on a ground ball, scoring both Everett and Allen’s courtesy runner, Beck Nicholson.

Carver’s Kingsley Long took the loss, surrendering ten runs on six hits over four innings, striking out two.

The Tigers hoped for a better game in the second matchup. However, they were no match for the Bulldogs who won in a resounding 17-0.

Everett led things off on the pitcher’s mound, surrendering zero runs on zero hits over three innings, striking out five and walking one.

Ethan Barrett then took over to get the last out of the game.

The Bulldogs fired up the offense in the first inning, when Kingsley’s twin brother Kingston threw a wild pitch, allowing for two runs.

The Bulldogs went on to tally six runs in the fourth inning.

Allen, Everett, Jay Harrison, Bradley Vanlergerghe, Trip Gebel and David Chastain powered the big inning with RBIs.

Kingston took the loss for Carver, lasting three and a third innings, allowing eight hits and 13 runs, while striking out three.

Everett went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits.

The Bulldogs will now take on Cairo on Tuesday at home at 5 p.m.
