Thomasville heading to Miss Georgia competition

- SHOWING OFF THOMASVILLE: 1st runner up in Miss Thomasville, Macy Taylor, will also be competing for the title of Miss Georgia.
THOMASVILLE- It has been several years since Thomasville has been represented at the state level. This year the city will once again have a presence at the RiverCenter in Columbus, Georgia as local ladies take the stage to compete for the title of Miss Georgia.
Miss Thomasville 2022 1st Runner Up, and tied for Poise & Essay preliminary scholarships Macy Taylor, 2023 graduate from Thomasville High School Scholars Academy and daughter of Lisa and Russ Taylor carries the title “Miss City of Roses”. 4th Runner Up, tied for Essay & People’s Choice Award Winner, Jocelyn Watson, who attends Southern Regional Technical College and is the daughter of Lisa Rudolph-Watson and Benjamin Watson, carries the title “Miss Red Hills”.

Both ladies left Thomasville on Friday, June 9th to check in and spend a marathon week of events, rehearsals and competition prelim nights and final competition night for top 15 on Saturday, June 17, 2023. They will be joined by young ladies participating in the Miss Georgia Princess Program, a program designed to teach the importance of community service and provide opportunities of personal growth during the time they are mentored by the Miss and Outstanding Teen candidates. Mattison Haymons, daughter of Mary Catherine and Dan Haymons and Mia Taylor, daughter of Lisa and Russ Taylor.
2022 Miss Thomasville, Aniya Morris, daughter of Felicia and Benjamin Morris, spent an evening last week at the send-off party for Taylor and Watson encouraging and cheering on the contestants, true to her leadership role. The opportunity to compete for Miss Georgia was not an opportunity that Morris felt led to embark on. “I am very happy representing my town and being an ambassador for this city and working in the community,” said Morris.
“We are encouraged to know who is shaping the next generation with the support, compassion, leadership, accountability and work ethic we see in these young women”, said Mariam Mirabzadeh, Miss Thomasville Scholarship Program board member.
Thomasville native and former Miss Thomasville court member, 2022 Miss Albany, Aleks Arwood, daughter of Michele and Bill Arwood will also be competing at Miss Georgia. She is joined by her Princess Program princess Vivian Mirabzadeh-Beckwith, daughter of Mariam Mirabzadeh and Dennis Beckwith.
