THOMASVILLE- The Thomasville Kiwanis Club is bringing back a community favorite this February with their annual Pancake Supper Fundraiser.

Kiwanis Club President Brian Bellamy said the club has been unable to hold the fundraiser since 2020, due to COVID-19. However, the pancake dinner will return on February, 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Thomas County Central High School cafeteria.

All the money raised from the pancake dinner supports children in the community.

“We work a lot with our local schools, including Brookwood,” Bellamy said. “We also recently adopted Vashti as our special project and by that we meet with Vashti and see ways we can best serve them.”

Bellamy went on to explain the club is also working toward a bigger project that will take place next November and the funds generated at the pancake supper will help with that.

“All of our money for Internationals and meetings comes straight from our membership dues, any money raised goes straight toward the children,” Bellamy assured.

The fundraiser also allows Kiwanis Club to work with children involved in Builder’s Club, K Kids Club and Key Club at the middle and high school level.

“Our student learning programs will be on sight to help,” Past President Brecca Pope said. “K Kids serve the all-you-can eat pancakes, Builder’s Club helps with the service line and running the to-go boxes and then the Key Club helps distribute takeout and will be driving golf carts from the parking lot to the front door.”

All pancake suppers come with syrup and linked sausage. However, those who are not getting their meal to go and eating inside the cafeteria, are welcomed to all-you-can eat pancakes, along with hot chocolate, coffee, milk, orange juice or water.

Bellamy cannot wait to see familiar faces from year’s past at the pancake dinner, as it usually draws between 500-700 people, although he thinks the dinner may even be larger this year.

Pope explained she usually buys her tickets before passing them out to friends and family. However, she said she has already had people reaching out to her and asking to purchase tickets this year.

Tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased through a Kiwanis Club member. Additional information about joining Kiwanis and all the services they provide will also be available.
