THOMASVILLE – Thomas County Central senior Sarah Stewart played like an all-state performer this year, batting .538 with eight home runs and 36 RBIs.
The Georgia Dugout Club recognized her greatness, selecting her for the all-state game, to be played Saturday, Nov. 18 at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.
It was recognition well deserved says Central coach Robyn Trammell.
“She had a great senior year, and she went up against some real stiff competition in order to make that roster,” Trammell said. “We’re super proud of her. We nominated all three of our seniors, and her stats obviously were impressive. She was selected to go play and represent our region.”
Stewart finished with quality stats both at the plate and in the field. She added to her hitting totals with a .946 slugging percentage and .617 on-base percentage. Stewart also tallied a .914 fielding percentage.
“Everything was just that good. She fielded well. She hit well in clutch situations,” Trammell said. “Everything she did this year, she did it above average. She did it exceptionally. We were just super proud of her. She had a great senior year.”
There will be four all-state games throughout the day. Stewart will be part of the Region 1 and Region 4 team that will compete against Region 6 and Region 7 in the 2:30 p.m. game. Each player participating throughout the day will be recognized with a plaque. Players will also compete in a skills competition and home run derby.
Stewart led Central to a 15-15 record and second-place finish in Region 1-6A.
