THOMASVILLE – Thomas County Central’s wrestling team had a productive and winning Saturday at a duals tournament held at Tift County High School.
Central finished 3-1 during the day, defeating Crisp County, Veterans and Cairo, while losing to Lowndes in a close match.
Ean Oneal (113-pound weight class), Jaxon Ward (126), Rodney Edwards (132), Mason Brown (157), Micah Wood (165), Logan Ward (175) and Michael Pendarvis (175) finished undefeated on the day.
“I was pleased. We won all but six of the individual matches we wrestled today,” Central wrestling coach Matt Tanner said. “We still don’t have a full line up right now because we are still missing some football guys. That’s a lot of points to overcome.
“Our guys are working hard and holding down the fort while our football guys are working toward a state championship. We will be tough to beat once we have our lineup complete.”
Central will next travel to Lowndes on Tuesday, Dec. 5 for its annual tri-match with Lowndes and Ware County.
Central’s football team will compete for the Class 6-A championship on Tuesday, Dec. 12 in Atlanta against Woodward Academy.
