THOMASVILLE — The Brookwood Warriors continued their winning ways at home on Friday night with a big 52-37 win over Terrell Academy. With a dominate offensive performance that saw the Warriors find the end zone seven times, Brookwood is still undefeated in region play.

Rodge Waldrop was up to his old tricks as he completed just under 75% of his passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns. With those four touchdowns, Waldrop has now thrown 101 touchdowns in his career with the Warriors. All of those TD passes on Friday night were caught by junior Rex Schofill who finished his night with a team-leading 15 receptions for 164 yards and now holds the single season record for receiving yards with 1073 on the year.

TJ Thomas was getting it down for the Warriors on the ground and in the air with 242 all-purpose yards. He had 168 of the Warriors 186 total rushing yards and ran for three touchdowns, while also being the team’s third leading receiver with 74 yards on five receptions.

Brookwood’s defense was all over the field as well. Senior Nic Clark led the team in tackles with ten solo take downs and a sack. In total, the Warriors forced five turnovers with freshman Sam Yokley snagging an interception and Brookwood forcing four fumbles and recovering all four.

With the dominating win over Terrell, Brookwood now improves to 6-3 on the season and 4-0 in region play. That makes this week’s game against Valwood extremely important. The Valiants are also 4-0 in the region, making the final regular season game a battle for the region championship.

Valwood is coming off a big 52-3 win over Deerfield-Windsor and these two programs have some history. Brookwood hasn’t lost to Valwood since 2019 when the Valiants defeated the Warriors 43-29. Since then, the Warriors and the Valiants have played some extremely tight games with two of the last three matchups being decided by three points or less. Last season’s game was a slim one point victory for the Warriors. Waldrop carved up the Valiants in that game with 249 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns while Valwood had a solid running attack with 251 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.

This latest matchup between these two region powers is sure to be an exciting contest.
