THOMASVILLE — The Lady Jackets stepped onto the field earlier in the week not only to take on Bainbridge, but to honor their three seniors. Despite the loss, Central fought hard. Though eight hits looks good on paper, Central struggled at the plate. They struck out ten times and, though they put runners on base, the Lady Jackets were only able to send three of them home.

The scoring broke open early with both squads putting two runs on the scoreboard. Laney Mobley was stellar on the mound for the Lady Jackets. She threw a complete game and, though she allowed six hits and four runs, ended her day with ten strikeouts.

The Bearcats took the lead in the third inning and tacked on another run in the fourth to make it 4-2. That score would remain until the bottom of the seventh when Central attempted a comeback. They brought in a single run to bring the score within one, but failed to bring anymore across and fell the Bainbridge 4-3.

After the game, Central honored their three seniors who have helped lead this young team. Leah Miller, Sarah Stewart, and Aly Morabito all delivered speeches, talking about their time within the Jackets softball program and their favorite memories.

“All three of them are just the epitome of what you want a program to be built around,” said Central head softball coach Robyn Trammell. “Just three great young women who all played a different role in helping our program become better and put us where we are now, which is the two seed in a pretty tough region. They do a great job. They lead on and off the field and they are just great kids and people you want be around.”
