Dinner to benefit SoloHope set for September 28th

Come Home to Hope, the 2nd Annual dinner to support the ministry of SoloHope will be held on September 28th at 6:30 p.m. at the Cairo Women’s Club. Everyone is invited to join together for an unforgettable night of hope and inspiration, along with delicious food, door prizes, a silent auction and the return of the Balcada Bar. Pastor celebration to be held at Moore’s Temple

Moore’s Temple First Born Church on 4th Street, SW in Cairo, will celebrate their pastor with a special Pastor’s Appreciation Service on September 24th at 11:00 a.m. Minister Hattie Johnson will be leading the service. For more information, call 229-289-2133.

Extension Office to offer ServSafe Certification classes

The Grady County Extension Service is now registering restaurant workers for a certification class to learn how to provide safe food service. The ServSafe Certification Course will be held September 25-26th from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Extension Office in Cairo. The cost is $150 to register through September 15th and the price will increase to $160 after that date. Once certified, individuals must re-certify every five years. Benefit to be held for Mike Bond

There will be a chicken barbeque benefit for Mike Bond to be held on September 23rd from 3-6 p.m. at the Whigham Community Center to help pay Mike’s medical expenses. South Pit BBQ will be offering smoked and BBQ chicken quarters with baked beans, coleslaw and roll for $12. Library Lego Club meets on Thursday

The Roddenbery Memorial Library invites all children who love to play with Legos to be a part of the Library Lego Club at 4 p.m. in the library auditorium. The event is open to anyone from grades K-8 who loves to build their own creations or build as a team with Legos.

Chamber Golf Classic coming September 21st

The 24th Annual Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic will be held at the Tired Creek Golf Course on Thursday, September 24th. There will be cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams with prizes also given for the longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one. Country Legends Concert to be held at Zebulon in September

There will be a special live concert at the Zebulon Theater on Saturday, September 30th featuring Jordan Poole and the Gene Turner Band performing the music of ‘Country Legends.’ The concert will be a tribute to such legendary musicians as Conway Twitty, Keith Whitley, George Jones, Dwight Yoakam, Alan Jackson, John Anderson and more. Parent Training being offered Online for new school year

Grady County Schools remind all parents and guardians who are planning on attending any school field trip, volunteering in the school or working around students in the school in any capacity, that you must complete a mandatory training. The training is offered online at www.prosolutionstraining.org. After completion of the training, please print the certificate that you will receive and bring it to your child’s school prior to the event in order to receive the mandatory certificate card for mandated reporter training. Library seeking part-time janitor
