- PLAY HARD PLAY TOUGH: The Seminoles will need their star QB against Clemson. After struggling against Boston College, the Tigers present a real threat to FSU.
Last Saturday was a bad day for Florida State fans in more ways than one. Not only were the Noles, ranked number three in the country at the time, struggling against unranked Boston College, but a hush fell over the Seminole faithful in the second quarter as quarterback Jordan Travis went down with an apparent injury in the last minute of the first half.
The Noles QB was surrounded by FSU medical staff and his coach when he began pointing to his non-throwing shoulder. Travis remained on the ground, rolling in pain, after being brought down on a shoestring tackle. He came down awkwardly on his elbow, essentially jamming his shoulder.

Travis did return to action in the second half to play through his injury, though he was clearly in a lot of pain. Travis showed his toughness as, despite the immense pain, he recorded 212 yards and two touchdowns on 16 completions by the end of the extremely close game. His injury also didn’t discourage him from running the ball as he finished the contest with 38 rushing yards.
According to Sports Illustrated, Travis was seen after the game in a sling and with ice on his left shoulder. However, head coach Mike Norvell put the fan’s worries to rest the following Monday morning as he said, “I mean he was sore after the game but I’m not worried what his health will be here moving forward”.
Travis will play with the Noles in their upcoming contest against Clemson, a match-up that has become considerably more interesting since FSU struggled with BC. Florida State will, however, be without their true freshmen backup QB Brock Glenn. Glenn sustained an undisclosed injury in one of his three snaps against Southern Miss in week two. He was replaced after his one drive by AJ Duffy. The move was at first seen as the Noles getting all of their quarterbacks some in-game reps, however, it is now clear that Glenn was taken out due to injury.
It is disappointing news for fans as the four-star recruit out of Valdosta showed real promise in the pre-season, making a legitimate play at Tate Rodemaker’s backup spot. The good news is that Glenn’s injury is not a season-ending one. Norvell spoke to media on Wednesday saying that Glenn should only be out for “a few weeks.”
“We’ll get him back here within the season and just continue to progress for him,” Norvell said.
