THOMASVILLE — Just four weeks into the season a number of Georgia high school football teams has traveled out-of-state. In fact, 59 games have been played between Georgia schools and out-of-state opponents through week four, and there are many more to come.
Georgia has done well against the rest of the country. Overall Georgia is 36-23, having battled against nine different states and holding winning records over six of them. The only states that Georgia schools do not have a winning record in are California, in which Creekside was beaten 62-0 by Mater Dei, and Ohio, where Valdosta lost 28-17 to Massillon Washington.

Georgia’s biggest victory came by way of Commerce, who delivered a 56-13 beating to Murphy out of North Carolina.
South Georgia has also been strongly represented around the country. Lowndes, however, has been leading the charge for South Georgia. They defeated teams out of Florida and Alabama before playing host to the Rock Creek Christian Academy Eagles out of Upper Malboro, Maryland. The Vikings took the Eagles down 23-12.
Overall South Georgia is 6-1 against the rest of the country and will look to do more damage as schools like Thomas County Central, Tift County, and Valdosta will play more out-of-state competition.
