CAIRO — Names of the mother and daughter found fatally wounded at their rural Grady County residence Thursday will not be released until preliminary autopsy results are received.
The deaths of the woman and her juvenile daughter are believed to be a murder/suicide, Capt. Daniel Singletary, Grady County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator said.
Preliminary autopsy results are expected soon, Singletary said Monday. Preliminary autopsy results are expected to verify what is known now about the deaths, the chief investigator added.
Deputies responded about 11 p.m. Thursday to a house on Beth Page Road in southern Grady County.
In a bedroom at the residence, officers found a 59-year-old woman, who apparently had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Singletary said.
A female juvenile found in the same bedroom had been fatally wounded. The juvenile’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
A revolver was recovered in the room in possession of the adult female, the investigator said.
An adult male at the house is not considered a suspect.
