Body found in Grady County pond identified

THOMASVILLE — The body found in a Grady County pond Monday morning has been identified as a Cairo resident. 

Jatonio President was discovered floating in a pond located at 222 Singletary Road.

The 22-year-old was a part of the 2017 class of Cairo High School.

The Thomasville/Thomas County Dive team recovered his bod,y along with a silver SUV from the pond.

Sgt. 1st Class John VanLandingham, Thomasville Post 12 Georgia State Patrol commander, said investigators will look at the vehicle to help identify the cause of death. 

“We’ll have SCRT investigators pull that, and they’ll look at it to see if there are any final speeds or anything that gives us more information,” he said.

Investigators are hoping results from the crime lab autopsy will give them more information. 

“Investigation is still underway, and we can have numerous outcomes here in the future, but we won’t know until we get that information,” VanLandingham said.
