Thomas County continues to add COVID-19 cases

As of Friday, more than 15,830 Thomas County residents, 35% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 32,800 doses of vaccine have been administered.

Grady County has had more than 15,000 vaccines administered, with more than 7,350 people, 30% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,878 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 118 deaths. There also have been 385 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 138 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 1,672 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 51 deaths and 194 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 42 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 917,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,663 deaths and more than 66,300 hospitalizations.

More than 9.36 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.5% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 11,878 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 8.6 million vaccinations, and 40% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.1 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
