CAIRO — The GBI said there are no new updates on the shooting last month in Grady County that resulted in the death of Jason Fralick, a Grady County native who lived in St. Petersburg, Fla.

After the incident, the Grady County Sheriff’s Office asked for the GBI to take over the investigation.

The three deputies who were placed on administrative leave have all been reinstated. A fourth deputy who was only involved with stopping the vehicle was not placed on leave.

“The investigation is active and ongoing,” Nelly Miles, director of the GBI Office of Public and Governmental Affairs, said Tuesday.

Fralick, 43, died on Pine Park Road in eastern Grady County on July 19.

According to a news release from the GBI, Grady County sheriff’s deputies went to the 3000 block of Pine Park Road on the evening of July 19 as the homeowner wanted a man to leave his property.

The deputies were unable to get the man to leave and attempted to arrest him.

After getting a handcuff on one wrist, the man escaped and got into a deputy’s car. As he started to back up while the deputies were near the open driver’s door, the deputies fired at the man.

The man then drove forward out of the yard. An additional deputy also fired at him.

A short chase ended on Pine Park Road where Fralick was pronounced dead.

The GBI has not released any further details.
