Thomas County COVID-19 cases eclipses 4,100

As of Friday, more than 16,180 Thomas County residents, 36% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 34,200 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Grady County has had more than 15,880 vaccines administered, with more than 7,520 people, 30% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,135 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 119 deaths. There also have been 397 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 256 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 1,776 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 51 deaths and 198 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 194 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 953,800 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,829 deaths and more than 67,800 hospitalizations.
More than 9.6 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.6% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 36,333 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 8.93 million vaccinations, and 41% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.23 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
